Endolift is a laser-based aesthetic procedure that is used to improve the appearance of lines, wrinkles and laxity or ‘sagginess’ within the skin.

It is commonly referred to as an alternative to a surgical face lift, with similar end results. Endolift technology can be used in many different target areas, including:

Cheeks/malar area
Chin and jawline

There are many advantages to using Endolift techniques. As the procedure is based around the use of laser-technology, it is a non-surgical procedure.

This means it is a very safe procedure as there is no need for any surgical incision or general anaesthetic (although local anaesthetic is used to make the procedure more comfortable). About this treatment

Endolift technology uses a special laser which produces high energy beams of light (1470nm wavelength). This particular wavelength of energy is able to affect both the superficial and deeper layers of the skin and targets the fat cells within the skin. The laser can be used to break down small pockets of stubborn fat (similar to liposuction techniques), and also stimulates the skin to produce more collagen, causing the skin to retract and appear tighter. With these effects, the Endolift laser can be used as a non-invasive tool to create sculpting in target areas of the face or body, giving the skin a more youthful, lifted and rejuvenated appearance.

Before undergoing any aesthetic procedures, it is crucial to complete an initial consult and assessment. During this appointment, an experienced clinician will be able to assess your target areas and cosmetic goals and make recommendations as to the right procedures to get the results you want. They will also be able to consider your medical background and any relevant safety profiles as part of this assessment.

As Endolift is a non-surgical procedure, it is generally very safe and can be done within an outpatient appointment. You will be able to sit or lie in a position that is both comfortable for you and suitable for the performing clinician. The laser is then applied within the skin using forward and backward movements. Although not typically painful, you may experience some warm sensations throughout the procedure. Immediately following the treatment, you will be able to see and feel some of the lifting and tightening effects. It usually take several months for the full treatment effects to become apparent as it takes time for skin to heal and fully settle. Most individuals only require one treatment, however at 6-12 months, a repeated procedure can be performed to give further lifting and toning effects in the skin.

What are the risks associated with this treatment?

There can be some mild redness, swelling, bruising and discomfort in the skin following any laser-based procedure. This can be reduced with the use of cooling during and following treatment and will usually resolve within a few days. There is also a small risk of skin infection, which is mitigated through the use of a clean environment and sterile equipment. Your clinician will be able to give you all the warning signs to look out for and what to do in the unlikely event of infection.

What are the alternatives to Endolift?

Endolift is used as a technique to ‘tighten’ the treated areas of skin. Depending on the target location, this can also be achieved through liposuction or other body contouring procedures. The best procedure for you will be dependent on your target areas, treatment goals and individual preference. An experienced clinician should be able to guide you to the best treatments for you.

Is Endolift treatment painful?

Laser-based treatments typically cause a mildly uncomfortable, heat-like sensation with most individuals able to tolerate this well. Additional measures such as ice packs can be used to cool the skin and reduce discomfort. Simple painkillers such as paracetamol are also helpful. In some cases, your clinician may recommend the additional use of sedation during the procedure, to further enhance comfort.

Will I have any scarring from Endolift?

Endolift is a minimally invasive procedure that does not involve surgical incisions, so will not result in visible scarring. There may be some mild redness or bruising following treatment, however this will resolve in a few days and does not leave any long-standing marks on the skin.

Mr Goutos and his team removed some lipomas from my arms. The initial consultation right through to the aftercare was professional, sensitive and genuine. Mr Goutos put me at ease right from the start, discussing my history and background and then discussing the various options for the incisions and sutures. The incisions were quick, efficient and professional. I felt completely at ease knowing I was in expert hands. The incisions were extremely neat and have closed and scared really well. I had a number of questions after the operation and one of the sutures became infected.
